MUJI embarked on a replatforming journey to modernise its ecommerce infrastructure. Dissatisfied with their bespoke system’s inability to keep up with industry standards, MUJI sought a future-proof solution that offered scalability and reliability. They chose BigCommerce for its agility, robustness, and cost efficiency.
Four key criteria guided MUJI’s decision: rapid feature deployment, future-proofing, efficient management of multiple webstores, and cost-effectiveness. Partnering with GPMD as their agency, they migrated to BigCommerce, focusing on building highly scalable websites tailored to five European markets. Integrations with Adyen, Paypal, Klevu, ShipperHQ, and Klaviyo were implemented to optimise international payments, search, shipping, and email.
User experience was paramount, with GPMD designing interfaces that maintained MUJI’s brand essence while enhancing usability.
Leveraging BigCommerce’s Open SaaS platform, MUJI capitalised on features like StagingPro and Multi-Storefront to streamline operations across markets. The platform’s customisability, scalability, and extensive API ecosystem proved advantageous, allowing for rapid deployment of third-party plugins to enhance features and user experience.
