Best B2C UX in eCommerce
B&Q – FoundIt!
B&Q operates one of the UK’s largest and fastest-growing DIY marketplaces, spanning millions of products across web, mobile and native apps. As the range expanded rapidly, the challenge became clear: how do you make a vast catalogue feel simple, relevant and enjoyable to shop?
FoundIt!’s intent-led commerce platform answered that question. Deployed across B&Q’s category, search and product pages – and natively integrated into the iOS and Android apps – FoundIt! analyses millions of real customer signals to dynamically generate navigation, surface relevant journeys and enrich product data in real time. The result is a shopping experience that adapts to what each customer is actually trying to do, reducing friction and decision fatigue at every step.
The UX is consistent across desktop, mobile web and app, and updates automatically – including a weekly trending navigation layer that reflects live shopping behaviour without manual merchandising effort.
The commercial impact has been transformational. Significant improvements across conversion rate, average order value and revenue per user have contributed to an eight-figure revenue realisation – alongside reduced bounce rates, fewer failed searches and measurably higher customer satisfaction.
B&Q and FoundIt! have proven that a complex marketplace can – and should – feel effortless.
Bensons for Beds – BigCommerce
Bensons for Beds partnered with Glass Atlas to create a more connected, personalised ecommerce experience for one of the UK’s most considered retail purchases.
Buying a bed is rarely a simple journey. Customers often research online, compare product options, visit a showroom, test products in person and return online before completing their purchase. Bensons needed a digital experience that reflected this behaviour, helping customers move more confidently between channels without losing their preferences, progress or pricing clarity.
Glass Atlas delivered a headless BigCommerce implementation, supported by Bloomreach and a modern frontend stack, to create a persistent preference-led journey across the site. Mattress size, firmness and configuration choices now shape the customer experience more effectively, helping users discover relevant products and make more confident decisions.
The project also improved promotional clarity, store-assisted selling and fulfilment confidence, connecting digital and showroom journeys more effectively. Store colleagues can support online conversion, while customers benefit from a smoother path from research to purchase.
The result is an ecommerce experience designed around how customers actually buy. By reducing friction across a complex omnichannel journey, Bensons has strengthened customer confidence, improved commercial performance and created a more scalable foundation for continuous optimisation.
Calor Gas – Adobe Commerce
Calor’s Gas Bottle Shop demonstrates how user experience can transform a traditionally complex and technical purchasing journey into a simple, intuitive, and confidence-driven eCommerce experience.
What makes this UX stand out is not simply the visual redesign, but the depth of research, behavioural analysis, and iterative testing used throughout the project.
Every aspect of the experience was designed around real customer uncertainty, pain points, and decision-making behaviour.
The project successfully balanced:
– Simplicity with technical clarity
– Speed with reassurance
– Mobile optimisation with usability depth
– Commercial performance with customer satisfaction
Calor has demonstrated that evidence-led UX design can simultaneously improve customer confidence, reduce friction, and deliver substantial commercial growth.
G2A.COM
G2A.COM’s entry “Beyond the ‘Buy’ Button: Engineering Trust through Post-Purchase UX Excellence” focuses on improving user experience beyond checkout, specifically in the post-purchase and product activation phase, where users often experience uncertainty and loss of trust.
In 2025, G2A redesigned its Product Page and Activation Ecosystem to reduce the “Anxiety Gap” between purchase and successful product use. Key improvements included contextual, visual step-by-step activation guides, reduced cognitive load through better information hierarchy, and a “Best Value” decision engine for gift cards to simplify price comparison and support user decision-making.
The project was driven by extensive research, including support ticket analysis, heatmaps, surveys, usability testing, and A/B testing across key markets. Findings showed users needed not only instructions but reassurance after purchase.
The redesigned UX focused on making complex digital product activation intuitive and “invisible,” while also improving purchase confidence. These changes led to measurable outcomes: Trustpilot ratings increased from 3.69 to 4.12, conversion improved by 0.5 percentage points, and support tickets decreased significantly.
Users feedback confirmed higher clarity, ease of use, and stronger intent to return. Overall, G2A demonstrates that optimizing post-purchase UX and building trust in digital transactions directly improves both users satisfaction and business performance.
Homefire – Shopify
B2 Agency partnered with heritage fuel brand Homefire to modernise their e-commerce experience, migrating them to Shopify Plus and elevating them into an aspirational lifestyle brand. Homefire faced complex business rules, such as a £100 minimum spend for free delivery and rigid subscription flows, which previously caused user confusion and basket abandonment.
B2 Agency implemented a user-centred design that simplified these complexities. Key UX innovations included a frictionless quantity selector, a mini-cart drawer with a dynamic free delivery progress bar, and seamless “Subscribe & Save” integration. The product gallery was transformed into an active selling tool by embedding key product differentiators, social proof, and bundle clarity directly into the images, capturing shopper attention pre-scroll.
Through iterative design and user feedback, B2 Agency delivered a frictionless, highly engaging shopping journey. The UX overhaul resulted in a significant increase in subscription orders, a higher subscription Average Order Value, and a notable boost in overall conversion rates, proving that complex rules can be simplified without compromising the user experience.
